Rates per night

These rates also apply to the two bedroom villa, which is located separate, but very close to the main bungalow.

Low Season (1 September to 14 December; 1 March to 30 June):

$90 USD per double per night
$105 USD per night for 2 adults and 2 children

Includes breakfast.

High Season (15 December to 28 February; 1 July – 31 August):

$125 USD per double per night
$140 USD per night for 2 adults and 2 children

Includes breakfast.

Bed and Breakfast Rate for use of the Bungalow per night (excluding Monkey Manor)

(4 spacious rooms and comfortably sleeps 16 people

$500 USD per bungalow per night

Includes breakfast only.

Monkey Manor

Our stunning new colonial-styled villa, Monkey Manor features 3 bedrooms and is situated away from the main bungalow to take in picturesque views of the surrounding tea plantations and majestic mountains.

Monkey Manor features its own private plunge pool, separate spacious lounge and dining areas, two double bedrooms, one single bedroom (all fan-cooled), one spacious bathroom, a powder room with w/c and kitchenette (self-catering and cooking facilities are not available, however it contains a fridge, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities), expansive terrace, gardens and stunning mountain views.

When the main bungalow is not exclusively booked out, guests staying at Monkey Manor are free to also use the main bungalow’s living and dining areas and larger swimming pool. The yoga shala and massage room are always available to all guests.

Monkey Manor comfortably accommodates 5 people however an additional single bed can be provided for USD $20 per additional adult or $10 per additional child on a bed and breakfast basis.

“Beautiful Place To Stay”

We were privileged to be the first guests to stay in the newly built separate bungalow situated just below the main house. The place has fantastic views over the Knuckles range with beautiful trees, birds, nature in the foreground. We awoke to the sound of birdsong every morning. The bungalow has its own pool for cooling off so you can be as private as you wish. Alternatively you can join other guests up on the terrace of the main house which overlooks the other pool. There are wonderful views everywhere.

Strathisla sits amongst tea & spice plantations and it is a must to take a walk around with JKo who will point out the various spices and fruits to you. You will also pass a few smiley locals along the way….everyone is very friendly.

“Super House In The Highlands”

Great location for… Matale town center, tea estate visits, mini worlds end and temples.
We had a cooking lesson with Priya and “estate tour” with Jeyakumar – both really good experiences.
Jeyakumar and his wife, and the staff were brilliant. Peter and his wife also very welcoming.
Nice relaxing atmosphere with light music being played, the house has lots of character.
Look forward to our next stay with them!

“Rural Bliss!”

My partner and I booked a 12-day holiday in Sri Lanka, and Strathisla was one of the best place we stayed. We were there for only 3 nights, and it was so relaxing that we wished we had booked for longer. We didn’t have quite as much time around the pool as I would have liked.
The guest house (an old tea plantation estate house) is located in a quiet rural area amongst absolutely amazing scenery – lush tropical forest, a spice garden, and the tea plantation. Our room, with its high ceiling, timber floor, and elegant furnishings, was a beautiful balance of modern amenity with colonial past.The food was exemplary, as was the service. All in all, it was exceptional value for money.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you organise day trips and ongoing transportation?

We can organise a variety of half and full day trips to many sites in the region including Kandy, Dambulla, Sigiriya, Pinnewalla, Victoria Golf club and hiking in the Knuckles. We can also organise all your ongoing tranportation needs, whether it be a mini van, car or even tuk tuk.

Do you do free pickups?

We only do free pickups from Matale town.

To get to us from Kandy, you can take a taxi (about 50mins), train or mini bus.

To get to us from Colombo or the airport takes about 4 hours and costs around 10,000 rupees in a taxi.

Do you have a restaurant at Strathisla Bungalow so we can order other meals?

Whether it be Sri Lankan, Western or a special childrens meal, we have a fabulous cook at Strathisla who will cater to all your culinary needs.

There is no meal charge for children under 4 years old.

What is the cost of extra people in the room?

The cost of having an extra child over the age of 4 year old is $10 and for an adult is $20.

Additional beds or cots can also be brought in for any extra people.

What is your refund policy?

If cancelled or modified up to 14 days before date of arrival, 50% of the total price of the reservation will be charged.

If cancelled or modified up to 7 days before the date of arrival, 100% of the total price of the reservation will be charged.

If cancelled or modified later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.
